Designing with the Elements
At Hibernate, we’re continually inspired by the raw, unfiltered beauty of the natural world, and nowhere is this more evident than in our signature colours: Dune and Iron. These tones, available in our sculptural 87 Degrees range, are a celebration of Australia’s elemental landscape — where soft sand meets sunbaked earth, and design becomes a quiet tribute to place.
In well-considered spaces, colour does more than catch the eye — it carries weight, balance, and mood. With its tall, tapered silhouette, the 87 Degrees pot brings presence without bulk. It’s a shape made for architectural clarity, ideal for layering height or framing entrances, garden paths, or statement furniture. In Dune and Iron, the form becomes even more striking.

Dune: Calm, Refined, Effortless
Dune channels the softness and serenity of wind-swept sand dunes. A muted, sandy hue with warm undertones, it brings a sense of calm and cohesion to a space. Ideal for minimalist palettes, Dune works beautifully with pale timbers, natural stone, woven textures, and light-filled surroundings. Its matte finish catches the light gently, making it an elegant choice for soft neutral schemes or understated interiors.
Indoors, Dune brings quiet elegance to corners, entryways, or sunlit living spaces, especially when styled with delicate foliage, such as a Maidenhair Fern or trailing Chain of Hearts. Outdoors, it settles effortlessly into coastal gardens, courtyard settings, or poolside decks with blonde timber or sandstone underfoot.
You’ll also find Dune in our 80 Degrees range; a rounder, more organic silhouette that softens the overall aesthetic. Used together, the 80 and 87 Degrees pots allow for thoughtful height variation and layering while staying within the same earthy tone.

Iron: Bold, Grounded, Striking
Iron offers contrast. With deep, sunbaked hues and warm undertones, it speaks to the strength and resilience of the Australian outback. Rich and confident, Iron anchors a space, perfect for drawing the eye in layered, textural settings.
It pairs effortlessly with deep charcoals, oxidised metals, terracotta tiles, and aged timbers. Whether used as a tonal companion to rusted Corten or a warm counterpoint to cool concrete, Iron grounds a space in strength and structure.
In terms of planting, Iron comes into its own when styled with bold forms: a large-leafed Strelitzia, a sculptural Ficus elastica, or a Mediterranean-style Olive tree. These combinations reinforce the tone’s sense of presence and natural gravitas.

Used together or alone, Dune and Iron embody the duality of the landscape: soft yet strong, serene yet striking. In the clean lines of the 87 Degrees pot — or the rounded warmth of the 80 Degrees, these colours bring a layered, grounded sophistication to any space.
Crafted from lightweight, durable fiberglass, our planters are designed to elevate both contemporary and classic environments. In Dune and Iron, they become more than vessels, they become part of the landscape story.
