The makers are the reason this collection is worth stocking. Basil Bangs build umbrellas and rugs to a standard closer to outdoor furniture than to seasonal gear, with powder-coated frames, UPF-rated canopies and waterproof-backed picnic blankets. Saarde weave Turkish cotton that softens with washing rather than thinning, in towels and totes that work as readily at home as away.

Both share the same logic as our pots: buy once, buy properly, keep it for years. Nothing here is bought in to fill a category. These summer outdoor accessories suit a park picnic, a poolside afternoon or a day at the water equally, and most of them earn their keep well outside summer — a Turkish towel works as a throw, a rug lives in the boot of a car, and a good umbrella covers a garden table just as well as it covers sand.
