Hanging Planters
The best plant match for a hanging planter will always be a trailing plant, something that will cascade down the sides and soften the look of the pot itself. Succulents are a modern favorite, and there are plenty to choose from—rhipsalis, donkey’s tail, and chain of hearts all make stunning options. For something a little different, try Peporomia polybotrya (also known as Raindrop Peperomia), which doesn’t trail as much but still offers a beautiful, unique look.
These succulents aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, and if you’re shopping for someone with more classical tastes, a flowering plant like hoya, with its lovely waxy flowers, might be more suitable. Or, for a more resilient option, Aptenia cordifolia (baby sun rose) is a tough little succulent that produces charming pink flowers, perfect for even the most difficult-to-shop-for loved ones.
